Libraries of the Provincial Archives

 
The Provincial Archives administers many libraries that are important for provincial history. Next to the Department Library and the Scientific Library there are some more remarkable libraries. The libraries of the Provincial Archives are reference libraries. Important reference works are available in the open access part of the consulting room.

Department Library
Library of the Styrian Provincial Archives Department("Department Library").
Focus: Bodies of law – Administration aids – Reference works

Lamprecht-Library
Library of Prof. Dr. Otto Lamprecht’s estates.
Focus: Styrian regional studies – History of settlements – Geography of settlement
Evidence: card index

Reference Library
Reference library of the archival departments Estates Archives, special archives and collections. Contains old fundamental-, and reference works, rarities.
Focus: Styrian regional studies – historic fundamental sciences.
Evidence: card index and online in the ADB of the Styrian Provincial Archives

Hauptmann-Library
Library from the estates of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Hauptmann, researcher from Graz.
Focus: South-eastern Europe.
Evidence: band inventory

Lutz’s Southeastern Collection
Library from the estates of Prof. Dr. Andreas Lutz. About 4.500 volumes, 916 maps, 185 pictures. Focus: South-eastern Europe

Theiss-Library
Library from the estates of Dr. Viktor Theiss.
Focus: Archduke Johann and his time.

Scientific Library
Scientific library led on a current basis.
