You can also contact us by electronic means (e-mail, fax or online form), but please note the technical requirements. Any matters submitted by electronic means outside our office hours will only be received and processed when our office staff resume work again. This means that the submission will be deemed to have been submitted and received only at that time.

The Science and Research Unit serves as a central coordination hub and funding body within Styria's research funding network. It organises the State of Styria Research Awards each year, acts as the administrative office for the Styrian Future Fund and the Styrian Research Council, and represents the State of Styria as shareholder of FH JOANNEUM Gesellschaft mbH and JOANNEUM RESEARCH Forschungsgesellschaft mbH.

The Unit's key responsibilities include:
- Development of Styria's research strategy, strengthening the region's position as one of Europe's most research-intensive locations.
- State of Styria Research Awards, including the Research Award, the Research Promotion Award, and the Archduke Johann Research Award.
- Research funding programmes, supporting the positioning of Styria as a leading location for science and research and preparing the region to meet European research and innovation requirements.
