The Economic Affairs and Innovation Unit is responsible for the strategic economic policy direction of Styria as a business location, matters relating to commercial law, and serves as the central strategic coordination hub for technology and innovation.
Its areas of responsibility include, among others:
- Commercial law, including licensing authority responsibilities under the Occasional Transport Act
- Economic and EU regional policy, including strategic, financial, and operational planning within the framework of EU funding programmes
- Broadband expansion, serving as the coordination office for broadband-related matters
- COMET Centres, including the planning and strategic management of competence centres under the Austrian federal government's COMET programme
- Business support and economic development, including funding for regional small-scale initiatives
- Investment project facilitation, providing advisory and coordination services to resolve issues and support major investment projects of significant economic importance
