The Holdings, Budget Management and Project Evaluation Unit is responsible for managing the shareholdings of the portfolios for Economy, Tourism, Science and Research. It develops the strategic guidelines of the State of Styria and the governance framework for its affiliated companies, continuously refining them in accordance with the principles of economy, efficiency, effectiveness, and outcome orientation.
Its key responsibilities include:
- Shareholding management, including operational investment controlling, strategic planning, monitoring of budgets and measures, administration of silent shareholdings, and analysis of quarterly reports, annual financial statements, and annual budgets.
- Representation of the State of Styria as shareholder at shareholders' meetings, including the organisation of general meetings, recruitment and appointment of managing directors, and the drafting and negotiation of executive employment contracts.
- Reporting, including the preparation of shareholding reports, evaluation reports, performance reports, and reports on measures taken in response to audits by the Court of Audit.
- Budget management, including financial planning and budget preparation for the four global budgets (Economy, Tourism, Science and Research) as well as the Österreich-Ring, accounting, and performance controlling.
- Project evaluation, including the initial assessment of new project proposals and the evaluation of projects carried out by affiliated companies.
- Project auditing, including the review of funding projects, supervisory audits of funding agencies, and financial audits of funding recipients.
