Technology, Infrastructure and Winter Service

The Unit's central task is the organisation and provision of necessary infrastructure to ensure the operational capability of the road maintenance service.

Machinery infrastructure:

• Procurement, operation and (preventive) maintenance of vehicles and equipment
• Technical management of the central workshops
• Drawing up expert opinions on the residual value of vehicles and equipment
• Maintenance of the inventory and the material depots of the road maintenance service
• Procurement and provision of work attire and protective clothing
• Contribution to occupational safety
• Analysis of operational data of vehicles, equipment and workshops
• Organisation and holding of foremen meetings
• Chairing the "Vehicles and Equipment for Road Maintenance" working committee of the Austrian Road, Rail and Transport Research Association (FSV)

Structural infrastructure:

• Technical management of the structural infrastructure of the road maintenance service 
• Construction, maintenance and operation of the structural engineering infrastructure and facilities including building services as well as coordination of electrical engineering
• Management of the flats and duty rooms in the road maintenance depots
• Management of real estate within the scope of the road maintenance service
• Ensuring energy supply
• Cost monitoring with regard to energy consumption for all sites

Technology

• Technical management of electrical engineering services for structural infrastructure:
• Operation and maintenance of tunnel, traffic light and pump systems 
• Construction, operation and maintenance of radiotelephone and telephone systems as well as IT networking and mobile phone equipment
• Construction, operation and maintenance of road ice and avalanche warning systems, data transmission installations and road surface temperature indicators 
• Chairing the "In-House Communication Systems" working committee of the Austrian Road, Rail and Transport Research Association (FSV)
